Charles Dickens
Charles Dickens was born on 7th February 1812 and he died on 9th June 1870. He is one from the most popular novelists of 19th century.

His parents were very poor. At the age of twelve, Dickens was deemed (považován) old enough to work and began working for ten hours a day in Warren's boot - blacking factory. When he learnt stenograph he worked as penman (písař). He started to writte short stories in 1833 under pen name Boz. He wrote in this stories about London milien (prostředí) and lower - classes (nižší společenské třídy). His readers liked his sketches(črty) very much. In 1836 he wrote The Posthumous Papers of the Picwick Club. It was his first books. In the same year he got married Catherine Hogarth and he hadnten children. In 1841 he visited the USA and he was very popular there. In 1870 he died off stroke (mrtvice).
